Paper Why Gender Problems are increasing: an Analytical Perspective Introduction The human is the most complex machinery that is ever designed by nature. The psychological studies are continuing to happen but no scientist has ever claimed that he or she is in position to completely understand human and his or her behavior. The literature of behavioral sciences recently came to understand and comprehend the role of group influences on individual behaviors and attitudes. The human is identified as a social animal and therefore, he or she is fundamentally designed to seek applause and legitimizing of the personal actions from the rest of the society. The humans tend to fall in line with overall societal and normative outlook of the society so that they should not appear aliens to the local setup. The individual behaviors remain dependent on others from the beginning. The children are known to be dependent on their parents for fulfillment of their needs and wants. The interdependencies of a society often tend individuals to mold their personal behaviors according to the cultural norms of the community (Butler pp. 17). The community is primarily responsible for providing for the fundamental necessities of life. The societies are famous for exhibiting ruthless and inhumane behaviors towards those who do not conform to the acceptable cultural practices and therefore, they are often denied basic human rights. The human life is always under the profound influence and spell of the society and because of this reason, nobody does not have the full capacity and power to act alone. The sexual life of an individual is considered a very private matter of the person but they are informally regulated by the masses. The social constructivism theory states that individuals always observe the collective behavior of the society and attempt to embrace its norms and values. The traditional sexual relationships are always promoted in the public setting but even the greatest supporters of straight sex are notorious for deviating from the norms and indulge into questionable sexual relations (Butler pp.18). Thusly, it can be established that humans always attempt to follow the crowd while delaying their true behaviors for the private times. The human civilization is made up of communal relations and therefore, the individuals have to demonstrate conformation with societal norms in order to appear legitimate members of the certain community. However, the philosophical minorities initially gather their supporters to form institutions and once these centers are formalized then the followers of the neglected philosophy have the option to practice their beliefs in a controlled environment. The gay and lesbian communities formed centers where people can follow their sexual orientation in an isolated environment. The attempts are being made in order to promote gay and lesbian relations. But, the struggles are not proving to be fruitful in terms of attaining the goals in a short term perspective. The changes will take significantly long period of time in order to become an accepted practice in the culture of developed nations. The cultural norms are considered as the most notable obstacle and hindrance in the way of profound cultural acceptability of gay and lesbian relationships. The contemporary marital bonds evolved as people got more and more dissatisfied with conventional marriages. The intra-sex relations were falling apart and both the genders argued that their partners did not understand and respond to their deep seated needs and wants. The intersex relations then became popular because members of the same gender knew the art of pleasing their partners. The growing demand of sex toys is an evident proof that homosexuality is growing in all parts of the world. Nevertheless, it is very much imperative to note that lesbians and gays are famous for acting normal in the public so that they should not end up alienated in the society (Butler pp.20). They are however, famous for seeking their ideal partners secretively. The abovementioned trend can be used in order to develop the argument that unconventional sexual relations have not been accepted as a norm in any part of the world. The developed nations have given an individual to practice his or her sexual orientation freely but the informal societal behaviors do not permit this business to be publically disclosed. In the case of developed and underdeveloped nations homosexuality is treated as a crime while the criminals are brutally punished as well. The human ability to behave willfully and arrogantly in the direction of the unknown and strange is being consistently translated into an inhumane mindset when it comes to treating homosexuality. The emergence of homosexuality has its roots in a poor understanding of the concept called marriage. In the past, people married in order to have a family and raise children. The marriage was identified as the means of procreating human race (Butler pp.21). The people’s ability and strength to procreate diminished as the economic conditions got toughened over the passage of time. The next generation got confused and puzzled about the nature of marriage and initiated to base their intimate relations on the notion of sex. The overemphasis on sex impressed people to incline towards having homosexual relations because they somehow thought that members of counter-sex do not have the ability to appreciate the needs and wants that develop along with the development of marital bond. The logic appears to be sound as the argument supporting the need to have homosexual relation is based on a social need to be understood. The Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory establishes that humans long for having a social interrelation with the community. Additionally, human tendency is also treated as a significant one because they learn new things and discard the old ones. The recent study argued that gays tend to change their sexual orientation and identity over the period of five years while, lesbians do the same in a decade. The lesbian and Gay behaviors are known to be triggered with the presence of a favorable environment whereas, the featured individuals tend to pursue regular romantic relations. The basic and fundamental psychological outlook of humans appears to be well aware of the fact that the normal relation can only occur with the help of involving a man and a woman. The modern sociologists are of the viewpoint that lesbian and gay relationships are twisted and turned form of traditional marital bond. The aforementioned philosophy is supported by the involvement of male and female in lesbian and gay relations so that they can support the relation in achieving the conventional goal of human procreation. The presence of lesbian and gay relations is historical in nature whereas, each and every civilization of the past has attempted to suppress the featured mindset. But, American legal system has legalized homosexual relations so that the sexual desires of the minorities can be fulfilled. The legalization of homosexuality was an initial step towards the right direction but it failed to alleviate difficulties of the minorities. The major percentage of the population is still holding on to the traditional concept of marriage and therefore, they are informally resisting the promotion of homosexuality in the community. The passive resistance is making the life unlivable for the people that are following homosexual philosophy. The societal and peer pressures have been considered responsible for shutting down homosexuality behind closed doors. The acceptance of homosexuality as an imperative value is going to take substantial number of years and before that lesbians and gays are suggested to limit their true nature to a private setting only. They are also recommended to follow the norms of the society in order to minimize the probability associated with communal alienation. The people are not willing to accept a homosexual that admits its philosophy openly. The cultural restraints are the key reasons for adopting caution while socially disclosing one’s sexual orientation. Humans are historically known to fear the unknown and therefore, it should not be a surprise that societies are not willing to incorporate new ways of meeting sexual needs. The raising divorce rates in the global community are supporting the presumption that humans are not contented with traditional marriages and they are looking to innovate so that they can make up for the boredom. The problem lies with the ability of both the genders to coexist peacefully. The women were considered to be the tools of pleasure for the men but as the feminist campaign evolved and it assisted the female population to become an active part of the society and as a consequence, the men’s grip on women got loosen and nowadays females have their own identity in the community. The inclination towards lesbian relations grew manifold as females are more than committed to demonstrate their power of decision making to the world that was once believed as a male dominant social setup (Butler pp.23). The males on the other hand, are getting increasingly frustrated with their inability to rule the females and because of this reason; they tend to develop homosexual relations as well. There are two imperative reasons and causes that are profoundly contributing towards generating and promoting homosexuality in the people of the 21st century. Firstly, the economic conditions are not allowing the people to meet traditional objects of the marriage and secondly, the women are getting empowered and therefore, they are interested in limiting their relations with males. The vicious cycle of causality is on its course already. The poor sexual orientation is the price that the modern world has to pay for empowering the feminine population. The gay and lesbian relations are observed to have more powerful bonding than the traditional ones. The content of mutual trust is more evident and notable in the case of formerly mentioned relations. The humans have a profound tendency and need of being cared about. The lack of caring in the traditional relations is known to compel people to find a suitable partner in their own gender. Furthermore, the homosexual relations have successfully invented a way to procreate with the help of hiring a participant. In this way, gays and lesbians are looking to convert their relations into long term ones. In the light of modern psychology, humans have been blessed with the ability to fight in order to save their mental satisfaction from deteriorating (Butler pp.37). The homosexuals have ultimately found caring partners and they are not going to give this up easily. The societal norms and values are also reflecting changes in the mindset as growing proportion of population in America is considering sexual orientation as the personal matter of the individuals and therefore, they identify it as their birthright to socialize with whomever they want as a friend. Recently, the definition of friend is expanded in order to include boyfriend and girlfriend and other sexual partners. The human need is so strong that they look to socialize after few minutes of isolation. The isolation is the worst possible punishment for humans and therefore, they seek out relations over their lifetime. The females and males of the modern era are failing to fulfill each other’s needs and wants. The dissatisfaction is translating into growing number of lesbian and gay relationships. The measure of legalization is a step that will impress lesbians and gays in the direction of publicizing their philosophy and in this way, researchers will have an opportunity to study and identify the problems that are caused due to homosexuality. The openness of lesbian and gay relations will in turn help the people and community to understand the importance of traditional marital relationships. However, when community will understand and respect the value of homosexuality then, it may not appear so alien after all (Butler pp.27). The community must work in the direction of understanding the root causes that are aggravating homosexuality and under all this fuss and noise, people may find that human need of socializing and friendship has stimulated the relations that appear so out of the world in current times. The government is recommended to facilitate intersex relations by educating them to have a child. The fear of having a child is also significantly contributing in the increment of homosexual marriages. The psychologists must also work in terms of telling people that the next generation needs to have a father and a mother in order to become a balanced individual. Based on the above discussion, it can be established that homosexuality is not an absurd concept but it has grown out of human need of socialization. The traditional marriage can only be restored in the international community once both the genders learn to tolerate and respect each other’s lifestyle. The males and females should understand that they are equals and no one is more or less powerful. The marriage is a companionship and therefore, it should not be taken as a competition. Conclusion This paper has effectively reviewed and analyzed the causes that led to the development of homosexuality as a philosophy. The governments of developed nations are already incorporating the mindset so that gays and lesbians must not consider deprived of their basic rights of association. The challenging economic environment of the world is making it hard for the couples to fulfill the basic and fundamental purpose of marriage that is to procreate human race. The inability to do so is forcing the next generation to base their relations on sex that is not designed to last in the long run and therefore, both of the genders are discontenting from traditional marriage as their basic needs and wants of being understood remain unmet. In most of the national societies, the homosexuals have to hide their true sex appeal but apparently it is about to change in next few years. The violence against homosexuals is going to vanish as soon as the world will begin to see the human side of the issue. Works Cited Butler, Judith. Undoing Gender. New York: Routledge , 2004 Online.
