Website Review On the website d “European and Asian History” the sources for factual information is not given so that they can be verified. Thewebsite consists of numerous pages pertaining to the history of Europe (as well as Asia) after 1600, but there are no footnotes or sources that would allow one to ensure that the information is accurate. However, at the beginning of the section that covers history from 1600-2010, the author of the website mentions “copying some history [.] and expand[ing] on it.

” This suggests that all the author is doing is copying and pasting their information from other websites and writing what, if anything, that they know about the topic. It is not clear who has the responsibility for the accuracy of the information presented. There is no information provided about the author with the exception of their e-mail address at the bottom of the page. There is a link that would take the reader the a page that would most likely contain the information of the author, but the link is broken and leads to an error page.

As previously mentioned, it is believed that the majority of the information was copy and pasted from other sources, thus leaving very little responsibility to anybody in charge of this given website. However, it is also up to the person doing the copying and pasting to determine if the information they are about to use is correct. The website consists of nothing but written information. As such, no statistical data is presented in graphs or charts. All of the information provided on the page, as well as the subsequent links, is in a list-type format.

Within each of the lists, sections of information are split up based on the year that they cover. There are no pictures, slides, or any other useful graphics that can be accessed to view more information pertaining to what is already written on the website. While there are no errors that I can substantiate in the data presented, I am still wary of the fact that most of the information was simply copied and pasted. Upon further investigation of the validity of the content of the page, I determined that many of the facts were taken straight from Wikipedia, which is already known to be one of the least reliable websites on the Internet.

I did this by copying and pasting certain pieces of information into a web search, which provided me with a list of some of the websites that the same information was found on. In conclusion, it has been determined that this website is not the greatest, most accurate source of information. Despite the fact that there are no given sources and the author is unidentifiable, there have also been many spelling and grammar errors found throughout the website, which does not make the site seem professional enough to be used as an academic source.

This website fails to meet academic standards and should not be considered reliable enough to use the information in an academic way unless further research is done to ensure accuracy. Works Cited "European History 1600 - 2000." Telus Planet. N.p., 4 Jan. 2009. Web. 9 Apr. 2011. .
