Research Proposal on Climate Change Mitigation Task: Climatic condition is a critical element in ensuring advancement of a sustainable environment capable of facilitating sound monetary and social aspects of existence. This proposal gives clear insight on climate change with categorical focus on preventive measures of severe climatic conditions. It covers various areas towards ensuring effective realization of safe climatic conditions based on good environmental principles. In particular, it discusses mitigation procedures, solution techniques with its merits, demerits, implementation criteria among others. Its effects, importance and control procedures, are also evaluated to ensure that sufficient information is provided to various stakeholders to facilitate the development of effective mitigation approaches. Environmental dilapidation, which is caused by carbon and other toxic emissions to the atmosphere currently, poses a great challenge to the development of businesses due to increased cost of production with limited resources in the production chain (Locker & Kaczmarek, 2010). Adverse climatic changes cause immense dilapidation of natural resources, which is vital in developing a strong economy with cute social benefits. Governments and various organizations must sufficiently understand the need for preventing environmental degradation. This significantly occurs through reduction of green house emissions to the environment by major producing industries to ensure a safe environment, which supports social and financial ventures. As indicated by Locker & Kaczmarek (2010), mitigation of climatic changes is the process of providing necessary interventions towards reducing sources of green house gases. These causes require effective mitigation through clear-cut policies and development of stringent measures with an aim of preventing ethical environmental practices. According to Crawford, Davoudi & Mehmood (2009), understanding of the need to mitigate and prevent climatic adverse conditions is increasingly becoming a major impediment to most organizations. In business organizations, quality of goods produced relates to capacities and strengths provided by the operating environment, which is a basic factor, vital for organizational success. No corporation can effectively administer its trade successfully without proper management of its environment (Crawford et al, 2009). Hence, environmental factors have become an increasingly critical concern for most institutions where regardless of organizational size, environmental issues impacts profitability and general performance. The concept of ecological dilapidation directly affecting atmospheric changes has existed for quite a while. However, it is recently that its awareness has lead to the establishment of measures towards curbing climate issues. Authorities intending to conduct mitigation have made environmental apprehension critical for climate change mitigation (OECD, 2008). Forestation and deforestation are the most common activities associated with tackling these environmental challenges. This processes influence the intensity of concentration for green house gases (GHG) within the atmosphere. Therefore, climate change requires immediate solutions than can minimize the long-term shifts that may result to environmental degradation. Its impact in one area directly affects the whole planet, as climate is not confined. Climate mitigation processes intend to increase dependency on the environment to ensure life sustainability (OECD, 2008). Over the past, these activities have benefited the community by ensuring tolerable magnitudes to climate distortion. Development of new strategies will hence be fundamental in curbing the effects of climate changes in the twenty first century. According to Davoudi, Crawford & Mehmood (2009), human beings are at the center for mitigation, since they are to blame for most of the degradation activities interfering with the climate. For example, individuals’ turning to the use of renewable sources of energy is recommendable as one of strategies for climate mitigation. Authorities should be at the forefront in initiating measures to resort climate change. They should revise the laws in place to align them with the current climatic challenges resulting from the activities of globalization. Since the benefits attained from climate mitigation affect the community in the end, this happens beyond the set out plans and expectations when carried out effectively. Developing and developed countries equally feel the effects that the activities of climate change cause to the surroundings. Mitigation intends to control climate change in order to prevent future negative impacts that arise from existing processes. Causes of climate degradation There are several causes and factors to severe environmental degradation, which are naturally, or human instigated. According to Koike, Miah & Shin (2010) such causes should be prevented through clear policies and strategies, to ensure favorable environment with valuable prospects. The major causes of environmental complications include green house gas emission, which is a major threat, encroachment to wet lands through human activities and poor disposal of materials, which are not degradable. Consequently, carbon toxins and emissions of related poisonous gases to the environment also contribute to climatic complications (Koike et al, 2010). These factors constrain environmental soundness with green house emissions to the atmosphere resulting in severe variation of weather patterns globally. It lead to unpredictable seasons like agricultural seasons, which lead to low yields in terms of agricultural raw material. This aids manufacturing processes in various corporations. Similarly, continuous human encroachment degrades water catchment areas, which in turn affects production of thermal power used in industries for production. This is a critical setback since there is currently a shortage of power in most countries due to limited water capacity that can propel power turbines. Most institutions now encourage the use of solar power. As noted by Diaz (2010) poor disposal of non-degradable resources like polythene papers, which pose a great challenge similar to carbon emission on the climatic gains towards restoring environmental conditions. He notes that, these factors require a holistic approach to restore social and economic benefits (Diaz, 2010). Climate degradation is not attributable to a specific cause; however, population increase acts as the chief cause to climate degradation by straining the available resources within a given area. Poor agricultural practices by the population also cause total dilapidation to the environment. In addition, some societies enhance degradation by having different perception regarding land use, like their method for tenure system that wastes the environment drastically. Their cultural practices such as communal farming do not consider the long-term impacts that their activities might result cause (Davoudi, Crawford & Mehmood, 2009). Consequently, experimental practices that introduce new vegetations harmful to a given place interfere with normal land structure. Low levels of precipitation formation, attributable to harsh climatic conditions resulting from global warming. Pollution resulting in emission of GHG into the environment is also a cause to climate degradation. Over cultivation of crops and grazing of animals in water catchment areas interferes with the biodiversity of a place. However, in some instances causes of climate degradation go beyond human actions. They can result form effects such as natural changes in the climate pattern due to the earth rotation. Secondly, tectonic forces on earth’s surface interfere with land structure that in turn degrades the environment. Natural disasters such as earthquakes alter the normal structure of land by introducing a different terrain. Likewise, there is an increase in demand for the sources of energy and food for consumption by the ever-increasing population causing a challenge to the environment. Development of agricultural activities such as farming using fertilizer degrades natural environment. Defragmentation of land reserves and water catchment areas from the encroaching human activities. Inappropriate policies to guide on environmental usage contribute to degradation. How to mitigate negative environmental conditions World leaders and various stakeholders are designing models and best approaches necessary to avert and prevent environmental disorders. In this regard, there are a number of stringent measures proposed to stop unwarranted practices, which are hazardous to the environment (Marshall Chase & Schuchard, 2009). This is done through developed policies and strict rules aimed at ensuring sanity towards building a sustainable environment. As noted by Marshall Chase & Schuchard (2009), comprehensive training and education with development of stringent rules are some of the best control and mitigation measures worth adoption. Ideally, training and education enhances human understanding on the merits of environmental preservation and best practices capable of restoring sound environmental principles. This is critical since most institutions emit toxic gases to the atmosphere without clear knowledge on how their actions influence environmental safety (Marshall Chase & Schuchard, 2009). Hence, environmental education will provide requisite understanding towards enabling them to contribute in environmental conservation by reducing emissions of toxic gases. Consequently, development of stringent penalties and regulations on environmental pollution is also capable of mitigating environmental degradation. These regulators should compel global toxic gas emitters to stop their practices and finance environmental restoration programs, which are initiated by the UN agencies and local governments (Buono, 2011). In addition, use of clean energy is imperatively critical in ensuring development of effective mitigating measures. Renewable energy ensures limited use of toxic gases and environmental destruction due to its solar enabled capacity. Continuous planting of trees and effective disposal of waste materials clearly is an obligatory principle to anyone who is environmentally friendly. Therefore, individuals including students and businesspersons must adopt the obligatory principle as a primary mitigating measure to acute environmental issues. As noted by Buono (2011), it is the task of the world’s populace to espouse fair environmental practices with full knowledge of its influence on economic matters. Organizations, with performance orientation currently, must ensure favorable practices since sound performance directly relates to environmental potentials and synergies. Therefore, sufficient prevention measures to environmental degradation are significant for institutional success. The first step entails integration of all factors that influence environmental conditions in a given region. This takes place whilst ensuring that the environment still serve its purposes like meeting the needs of the society. Intertwining adaptative measures that adhere to the policies in place regarding land use is mandatory for the mitigation process (Davoudi, Crawford & Mehmood, 2009). For ecological mitigation, planning plays a critical role in carrying out mitigation. It should be undertaken when intending to control the negative environmental conditions. In this case, grouping the solution to target fiscal and social factors will make it easier to evaluate the expectations from the mitigation process. People should promote environmental friendly habits that reduce the negative impacts on climate. Authorities are to encourage recycling for certain products within the environment throughout its life cycle. Moreover, reducing high concentration of GHG in the environment by planting trees that absorb the available gases in the atmosphere plays a critical role in controlling environmental degradation. Minimization of gas emissions to the environment will also be of importance as a practice. Lastly, citizens who participate in minimizing degradation should be encouraged by receiving benefits form authorities concerning their practices. Importance of mitigation With the increasing need for amicable solutions to negative environment effects, mitigation ideas proves noble towards ensuring strong social and economic performance based on strong and quality principles. In particular, alleviation efforts seek to advance restoration of natural resources like water towers and forests, which immensely contributes, to favorable climatic conditions. The process through training provides requisite capacity through which the need and how the process influences monetary and social life is inculcated to various stakeholders. This enables various groups to ensure favorable environmental practices based on clear ideals and reduction of toxic emissions. Mitigation process is also important since it facilitates mobilization of resources to advance the process. According to Baba & Tayfur (2011), the process requires immense resources, and goodwill to ensure its accomplishment towards providing a long lasting solution. It requires human resource capacity with sufficient ability and goodwill to provide needed logistical support like re-forestation and construction of solar panels, which require human input. Consequently, the program requires substantial financing to facilitate training and adoption of good policies. The program is significant insuring performance advancement in both social and financial pillars of individuals with visionary prospects hence should be addressed with high proficiency. It strengthens institutions reliant on the environment for most of its activities especially agriculture. There is the realization of land value increase due to its high potential in terms of viability from its fertility. Additionally, mitigation minimizes detrimental health effects associated with the degradation process such as contracting diseases like asthma by the population. Besides, it has immediate benefit of which cannot be realized when not scrutinized keenly such as issues on health matters. Monitoring green house gases helps future planning, as the situation will have been controlled in advance preventing future challenges that the society might be forced to resolve. The surroundings quality in terms of air and other natural resources will be able to sustain healthy lifestyles among populations. Mitigation results in improvement in standards for construction activities (Davoudi, Crawford & Mehmood, 2009). The choice of materials bears in mind important factors like its biodegradability. Sustainability in use of energy resources and easy access to places where they are found. Reducing costs by utilizing efficient environmental friendly transportation systems in place. Mitigation facilitates growth of industries that promote responsible usage of resources. Organizations will be able to conduct studies for coming up with plans to maintain the sustainability of the environment. This will lead to development of alternative modes of land use for reducing climate change. Mitigation cannot eliminate the negative effects on the environment but it ensures they are at levels manageable to control. Increase in ecological value of natural resources to benefit populations will happen consequently. Lastly, lifestyles for the population will realize an improvement through careful usage of natural amenities. References Baba, A. & Tayfur, G. (2011).
