Historically, the firms and associates worked with international offices in an attempt to deal with local business challenges; but, with the passage of time and digitization of bandwidth information technology (IT) is being tested openly to deal with transnational IT operations (Kniaziewicz, 2008). Basically, a transnational business carries out its business activities in different countries and continents with different level and needs of synchronization and integration of operations and strategy (Basu, 2012). This paper presents an analysis of some of the aspects of transnational IT operations. This research will cover various transnational IT related aspects, advantages, disadvantages, and issues related to transnational IT operations. An Overview of Transnational IT Operations The recent developments in information and communication technology especially the Internet, in addition to the capabilities and affordability of IT tools and applications, have changed the ways through which business organizations carry out their business activities both at a national level and globally. In this scenario, one of the most important aspects of information technology is its affordability, which has facilitated small business organization to not only enter and survive in markets usually conquered by large business organizations but also try to win in developing and new markets (Kniaziewicz, 2008; Marulanda, 2010). In addition, with the emergence of information technology particularly the Internet and e-commerce, organizations have also slowly but surely engaged in intercontinental business as these technologies have presented them wonderful tools and opportunities. Hence, at the present, the reputation of globalization is straightforwardly linked with the reputation of information and communication technology for the reason that it facilitates organizations that at one time were not capable to launch and manage business operations internationally with the prospect of competing globally. It is an admitted fact that the transnational operations can offer the businesses a number of benefits at many different stages, as well as if supervised in the approved manner, the businesses can compensate the potential challenging features that exist in this process, providing these businesses with an optimized arrangement that can change the organization into a winning business working in an international stage (Kniaziewicz, 2008; Marulanda, 2010). Advantages of Transnational IT Operations There are many advantages of transnational IT operations; some of the important advantages include access to worldwide market, elasticity, diversity, and affordable business structures, among a variety of others. At the same time as various challenges for instance service levels and quality of work have usually overwhelmed worldwide businesses. In this scenario, the development of latest tools and technologies and the knowledge derived from transnational IT operations are as well very much modernizing these aspects and areas and reducing the harmful impact usually held. In this scenario, variety in the human resources also allows the businesses to gain experience and search for latest tools required to launch their products and services internationally (Marulanda, 2010; Kniaziewicz, 2008). Additionally, this diversity does not simply present an opportunity to expand customer contact by adopting the communication mediums, channels and languages that the business organization can service, however as well it gives an experience and knowledge of how to deal with cultural diversity among its human resources and customer base. In addition, if the business organizations learn how to deal with this kind of diversity they can get a competitive edge over other competitors that usually have simply competed in local markets that does not involve any kind of cultural diversity. In view of the fact that the trend of the organizations is towards globalization and such a trend will only improve because communication technology is further commoditized, hence such knowledge and experience is a plus point that can significantly improve the capability to compete in globally (Marulanda, 2010; Kniaziewicz, 2008). Disadvantages of Transnational IT Operations Without a doubt, transnational IT operations provides a number of advantages and opportunities but it also brings various issues and challenges. In fact, if the transnational of IT operations is not properly managed and controlled, transnational operations can create a variety of issues that can harmfully affect the business organization. In this scenario, some of these negative effects include political and financial constancy, technological structure of the host state, cultural difference, and technical knowledge and experience. However, the knowledge of the differences and particulars of the host country is essential to the successful orientation of IT operations performed on a global platform (Marulanda, 2010; Kniaziewicz, 2008). Additionally, normally, the expenditures of technological changes and implementations in developing countries are considerably higher, with respect to the communication environment, as well as less consistent. On the other hand, if they are readily on hand, the local service levels would not be up to the standards and expectations that the business needs in order to run its IT operations. In view of the fact that best possible communication as well as well-organized communication channels and mediums are necessary for the successful orientation and management of global IT operations, hence the tools and applications available need to be undoubtedly implicit and choices to justify communication trail off should be ready before the origination of IT operations in the host country. In addition, infrastructure problems can cause complexity and issues in completing projects on time and the transfer of work or and can lead to quality issues (Marulanda, 2010; Kniaziewicz, 2008). Additionally, in Transnational IT Operations various legal aspects also need to be addressed. In this scenario, the Government of the US has developed very stringent laws regarding personal and corporate data and information privacy. Though, many other nations do not have related laws passed as well as if the rule is passed in other nations, it might be hard to put into effect. For the sake of performing successful Transnational IT Operations the security and privacy are one of the main concerns. In this scenario there is need for rules and regulations to better manage corporate Transnational IT Operations (Marulanda, 2010; Kniaziewicz, 2008). Quality of Work For doing business online the Transnational IT Operations are one of the most important tools these days. Transnational IT operations as well face issues and challenges regarding quality of work due to web based platforms. Basically, the quality of work requires to be taken into consideration how workers feel about a task being carried out as well as the business for which he or she works. In fact, cultural difference and languages can create issues and problems during contract consultations. The resultant break influences the quality of work for the reason that the transnational IT operations try to complete a project. At the present, there are many technology based systems that can offer better services and technology based support. The effective solution of cross cultural issues, differences and language and communication issues can facilitate structures inside the culture as well as employed by the culture. Additionally, the Transnational IT operations require recognizing outages and the influences on the parent business and international operations (Marulanda, 2010; Kniaziewicz, 2008). Technological Infrastructures In order to conduct transnational IT operations not every nation has a new and high tech technology arrangement. In fact, the majority of new technology and communication tools are available in 1st and 2nd world nations. Third world nations do not have such technology based infrastructures. In addition, not all social areas and companies’ departments have access to extremely well-organized communication and high-tech networks based infrastructure. One of the major reasons behind the lack of access to such technologies is the price of such new technology based services that can be unequal or out of the reach of the majority of medium and small companies. Conventionally, technological modernisms in developing nations are considerably superior in cost and, in scenario of communication and collaboration infrastructure, as well less reliable (Marulanda, 2010; Kniaziewicz, 2008). Local Customs Transnational IT operations are also influenced by the local customs. As discussed above, cultural difference can create a wide variety of problems and issues those needs to be recognized for the effective communication and collaboration. If such aspects are ignored and not handled correctly, then such issues turn the dissimilarities into disadvantages. Every country has specific rules and laws and compliance with these rules is essential in order to make the transnational IT operations a success (Marulanda, 2010; Kniaziewicz, 2008). Control Issues For Transnational IT operations there is also need to deal with control issues. In this scenario, if these issues are not managed in a successful way then the organization can face many serious issues which can negatively affect the corporate arrangement. For the successful transnational IT operations an organization must have control over its business operations. For this purpose, an organization needs to effectively plan and manage its Transnational IT operations (Marulanda, 2010; Kniaziewicz, 2008). Conclusion This paper has presented some of the important aspects of the transnational IT operations. In this scenario, I have talked about a number of aspects regarding the transnational IT operations. This paper has discussed various transnational IT operations related aspects, advantages, disadvantages, and issues related to transnational IT operations.
