Running Head: Mobiles In the review: “mobile enhance third world lives”, the has used the conceptual analysis criteria in selecting the works he has reviewed. In this case, he has chosen the concept of cellular technology and analyzed its impact on the quality of life for the nationals in third world countries. He has organized the presentation of his works thematically/by focus where he has quoted the report stating that mobile applications have shown themselves capable of resolving many of the difficult situations found in developing countries.

In describing the research, he has used group, organization and industry levels of analysis whereby he has focused on groups of people in poor regions and isolated areas, organizations and companies, and industries such as farming, fishing and banking. The author states that mobile communication is the technology that has the greatest effect on the development of society and can be a major step towards industrialization in developing countries. He points out various implications of mobiles in the developing countries: The applications within mobile banking overcome the challenges posed by large geographic distances and infrastructure deficiencies for local business people and enhance safe transfer of funds.

This reduces the risks involved in handling large sums of cash. Applications in the areas of education and information are also beneficial in third world countries.Mobiles also improve relations where family members and friends in the city and rural areas communicate and exchange information thereby overcoming the “major social problem”. He also notes that mobile phones create improved conditions for companies, which in turn creates better economic and social conditions thus raising living standards.

A CONCEPT MAP PORTRAYING THE KEY ARTICLES REVIEWED BY THE AUTHOR OF THE LITERATURE REVIEW: “MOBILES ENHANCE THIRD WORLD LIVES” includes includes offer useful in useful in for and includes` to promote ensures enhance helps overcome who help bring improve conditions forwith promote promote promote examples result toOne limitation that the author identifies is that the services and applications offered in third world countries are low-tech as this is what all parties ranging from operators to individuals in rural areas would afford.

The author identifies a number of recommendations in the paper. He notes that mobile applications could be invaluable in helping health professionals and care providers get vital information, for instance, on HIV/AIDS and malaria to people living in isolated areas while access to obituary information via a mobile phone could make life easier. He also points out that provision of mobile phones to people in poor regions could significantly hasten development and that offering voice and sms services is the best way to raise living standards in Tanzania, an African country that shares the same situations as many other developing countries.

When constructing the concept map, I used Boyle’s TRAVEL organizational strategy where one writes and circles the Topic, Reads the material, Asks what the main idea(s) and details are, Verifies main ideas and details and records them in circles or rectangles with linking lines, Examines and repeats the same for the rest of the material and Links all main ideas to one another. I arranged the concepts hierarchically progressing from the most general at the top to the most specific at the bottom and linked them for meaning using linking words.

I learnt that a concept map helps one to understand a topic better and that one can rearrange the map, as he or she likes, to make it easier to read and interpret.ReferenceEricsson Mobility World, News Archive.
